Kuala Belait (Brunei)

Kuala Belait is a town in Brunei nearest to Miri. Before the bridges were made across both the Baram River and Belait River, the only way across to and from Miri would be by ferry that operated on the Belait River connecting directly to the town.

Lutong Flood of 1980-1981

In late December 1980, strong winds, torrential rain, and heavy swells in the seas, constant heavy rains caused water from the Miri River to overflow into Lutong.
