Miri now holds the longest philately line of 696.89m made from over 28,000 items at the Miri Civic Centre in the country.

The attempt is the brainchild of antique collector Lucas Johnny and supported by Pustaka Miri and Miri City Council (MCC). The team effort of 34 individuals and six groups from SK Anchi, Miri Hospital, Sedidik Lembah Hijau and Pustaka Miri. They contributed a total of 28,613 items comprising stamps, first-day covers and postcards. The minimum size required by the record book is about the size of an A3 paper.

Originally set to end on May 31, 2013, the exhibition was extended until June 9th to enable more visitors to view the longest philately line. The extension was to give the opportunity for philately enthusiasts to view the exhibition, once they had come back to Miri the Gawai Dayak holidays.
