Curry Rice is usually a plate of white rice, topped with chopped steamed chicken or chopped pork 'char siew' and finally curry gravy is poured on top of it all. Other varieties may have the curry served separately in a bowl with chicken and potato.
If you like curries, this aromatic and spicy meal is not to be missed.
Ask around for most recommended stalls located nearest to you - there are several curry rice sellers in Miri but an old time favorite among Mirians is located at the "Open Air" Central Market. This particular one has been in business for several decades and is patronized by several generations of Mirians.

"Kolok Mee" or 'kolo mee' is a popular dish of dried light yellow egg noodle served with barbequed 'char siew' (pork) or chicken .
Miri Open Air Market, or Miri Central Market is located at the heart of the old town center. This is a market place with sections that offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, tofu and pork for morning shoppers.
'Commercial shipping' utilizing Miri as a port goes back to as early as when Miri was merely a fishing village. Being the site of the first discovery of oil in Borneo in 1910 quickened the business and pace and progress of Miri, establishing it an important and leading port for the majority of the 20th century in the region for oil and then timber industries.
River Road was the name of the road that stretches from the Tua Pek Kong Temple, past the fish market, old bus station (now a roundabout), the old Miri Port Authority Building (now Arcadia Square), ending at the old shop houses of what is now known as the Harbour View Inn building.
