Sikh Temple in Miri is still located on the very same land that was granted to the Sikh ancestors by Charles Brooke since the ruling by Brookes in the early Sarawak days. A Sikh would refer to it as "Gurdwara Sahib". Located within the compounds, there is a large bird house, where many pigeons roost, and next to it an Angsana tree that is now over one hundred years old.

Krokop 10 Bazaar (Pasar Besar Krokop) is a double story building housing the market at Krokop Lorong 10 with market stalls on the ground floor and food stall center on the upper floors. 
On this Saturday of 25th July 2009, cellphones in Miri lit up with a flood of messages circulating of rumors that a light plane had ditched into the sea off the coast of Miri around noon.
The Piasau Nature Reserve, situated at what was formerly Piasau Camp at the Miri Peninsula, was officially gazetted on 21st June 2014 as a result of public petitioning.
