Construction began in mid-2019 and completed in late 2020, the new Fish Market is situated right by the Miri Waterfront, and just behind the Pullman Hotel and The Wharf apartment buildings. It was intended as a replacement for the old Fish Market located at what was the old River Road.
As the old fish market was next to the Miri River, which had been filled in as part of the land reclaimation project in the 2000s, boats cannot land and offload their catch right beside the fish market.
The new Fish Market features plenty of parking space and is located right by the Miri Waterfront.

On the Sunday of 21st, May, 1994, the "Miri Resort City" Publicity Launch Campaign was launched. The very grand occassion featured lots of shows, grand exhibitions with impressive publicity on what the future of Miri would hold.
