The Old Fish Market, located in the old town center, is the oldest fish market in Miri. In the old days, its location at the river side is the most suitable spot for landing fish caught from the rivers and seas, to be weighed and sold to the local populace. The historical market has been demolished and the fish market moved to a new location near the waterfront. The old building had been demolished to make way for an intersection connecting the Marina Times Square.

Built in 1991, Miri Civic Center functions as an exhibition foyer and amphitheater on the ground floor, holds the Miri Public Library on the second floor, and is a multi-purpose hall for various social functions such as wedding parties, concerts, large conferences etc.
