Morsjaya Pedestrian Bridge is the second of three pedestrian bridges (after the one at Boulevard) utilizing a similar design in Miri which connects Morsjaya over Miri-Bintulu Road to Merdeka Mall & Suites to ease pedestrian crossing over the increasingly busy roads.
The bridge is a steel design with concrete stairs and roof covering, however the stairs are not roofed.
Prior to this bridge being constructed, there have been several accidents involving pedestrians crossing the roads getting hit by vehicles.

On the Sunday of 21st, May, 1994, the "Miri Resort City" Publicity Launch Campaign was launched. The very grand occassion featured lots of shows, grand exhibitions with impressive publicity on what the future of Miri would hold. 
The Old Fish Market, located in the old town center, is the oldest fish market in Miri.
Second world war bomb shelter / tunnels located on the hillsides of Canada Hill provided shelter during bombing raids during World War II. Much of Miri was flattened and burned out during this period.
