Baong River (Sungai Baong)

Contrary to one particularly popular but inaccurate online map's insistence on it being the main river along Miri Peninsular, the Baong River is NOT Miri's main river (Miri River); it is small stream that flows into South East located near the Miri City Fan and the Krokop Cemetery, flowing from North East near Krokop.
Nowadays built up with concrete banks, besides being mistaken as the main river of Miri for the internet dependent, visually it could also be easily mistaken as a large monsoon drain located in that area. The Al-Taqwa Mosque was built about 30 years ago, and is one of the larger mosques in Miri. 
Miri City Fan is a unique fan-shaped (when viewed from the air) urban civic public park, it is about 26 acres is carefully sited in the hub of sports, educational and cultural facilities of Miri. 
The Miri Peninsula is a piece of land that is bordered by water on three sides but connected to mainland Miri, split in between by Miri River. 
Long before Lutong bridge was constructed, the area had a ferry service, possibly at or near the site of what is now the Lutong bridge today.
