It has been renovated multiple times since, for accommodation of modern amenities such as police radio upgrades, network upgrades, and air conditioning over the years. Being right next to the old town, the old police station is still a very busy place, with many people going directly there to make reports or to settle disputes, and police in patrol cars going through their routines daily.

Second world war bomb shelter / tunnels located on the hillsides of Canada Hill provided shelter during bombing raids during World War II. Much of Miri was flattened and burned out during this period.
Bahasa Sarawak, or Sarawak Language is a common language used by most Sarawakians. English is widely spoken and understood, along Mandarin & major chinese dialects. Shinonome (東雲 ”Daybreak”) was the sixth of twenty-four Fubuki-class destroyers, built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following World War I. It had exploded and sank with all hands off the coast of Miri. 
This theatre was one of the three 'movie theatres' as how it was called back then. Miri Theatre was located at the site of what is now Yu Lan Plaza.
