Kuala Belait is a town in Brunei nearest to Miri. Before the bridges were made across both the Baram River and Belait River, the only way across to and from Miri would be by ferry that operated on the Belait River connecting directly to the town.
Nowadays, the Rasau bridge across the Belait River takes one to the bypass road south of the town, which connects to its neighboring town Seria, all the way to Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei.

Like most cities, Miri has a rich history. What started out as a small settlement of fishing village, Miri is now a modern city, some one hundred years later.
River Road was the name of the road that stretches from the Tua Pek Kong Temple, past the fish market, old bus station (now a roundabout), the old Miri Port Authority Building (now Arcadia Square), ending at the old shop houses of what is now known as the Harbour View Inn building.
