The Baram Ferry used to operate at the Baram River, transporting vehicles and passengers across the river. The ferry was a vital link between Miri-Brunei border and for a long time it was the only way to get across.

On August 1st, 1960, the Miri General Hospital, which had for long been operated by the oil company with financial assistance from the government, was handed over to the government; with it went the Miri Ferry that connects between the peninsular and town - and the hospital -, all the concession land on the Miri Peninsula south of the Miri Golf Course, and all the houses, roads and utility services within that area.

Canada Hill is a stretch of hill that runs along Miri from North East to South West, and goes from Tanjong Lobang cliffs to Luak to Pujut Corner. Miri's first oil well - Grand Old Lady - now an official landmark and historical site - was built on top of it.
