The Taman Tunku Water Tower is located within Taman Tunku residential area, and the water tower is essential for storing and supplying water for the area.
Constructed out of concrete in the mid to late 1980s, and painted bright checkered red (faded) and white with the words 'Taman Tunku' on it, it sticks out as the only tall structure in that area, tall enough to be seen from seen from the Miri Airport Terminal, which is a familiar and recognizable landmark for Mirians returning or taking off in flights and from the terminal building.
Look straight out of the terminal building in the direction of the runway upon arrival at Miri, and you'll see it.
2020 Repaint

Repainted Taman Tunku water tower, in grayish blue.
The familiar bright red and white water tower has been repainted light grayish blue sometime in 2019, effectively making it harder to spot from afar. The words "Taman Tunku" had also been erased by the repaint.

The old Piasau bridge was a Bailey bridge at Piasau linking from the peninsular to Piasau at the point closest to the sea. The bridge, originally made of steel and wood with a single lane to handle the occasional vehicle traffic crossing, has seen several upgrades over the years.
On June 10, 1945, troops of the Australian 9th Division occupied Labuan Island. Within 11 days, they had landed on the mainland and liberated Miri and Seria.
