The Al-Taqwa Mosque was built about 30 years ago, and is one of the larger mosques in Miri. Located by Persekutuan Road and Kipas Road next to the Permaisuri Mall, the mosque featured meeting rooms, a religious library and burial preparation facilities and is regularly visited by the many in the city for prayers and other activities.

Tzu Chi 3R Center at Taman Tunku is a recycling center that makes use of the Taman Tunku Community Hall to collect, redistribute, and resell recyclable items as part of an initiative to promote recycling.

A bowl of Kueh Chap normally contains herbal broth, pork meat, pork belly, pork intestines, fried tofu skin, boiled egg, 'you char kueh' (fried dough) and served with rice flakes.
